Thai MFA to brief int'l diplomats on referendum result, next procedures
BANGKOK, August 9 (TNA) - The Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs will, later this week, brief representatives of foreign embassies and international organisations of the result of last Sunday's referendum on the country's new Constitution draft and next procedures to be implemented.
Thai Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai announced on Tuesday that the briefing session will be organised on August 11, during which the floor will be opened for the international representatives to ask questions.
Don noted that Thai Deputy Prime Minister Dr. Visanu Krua-ngam, who oversees legal affairs, and representatives from the Constitution Drafting Committee (CDC) will also join the briefing to provide the international diplomatic staff with information they are interested in, including
Thailand's future directions in accordance with the country's ongoing roadmap.
According to the minister, several countries have extended their congratulations to Thailand, after the unofficial result of the August 7 referendum was announced, in which over 60 per cent of the country's eligible voters turned out to exercise their right and the majority of them voted to approved the new Charter draft.
