Thai PM backs fund mobilisation to raise people's living standards
HAINAN, CHINA, March 24 (TNA) - Thai Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha has called on countries to mobilise public funds to spend on science and technological advancement and innovation in order to raise global people’s standards of living.
Delivering a speech at the opening of the Boao Forum for Asia in Boao of China’s Hainan Province on Thursday, the Thai prime minister noted that Thailand builds security at the national level by using state mechanisms and the Sufficiency Economy Principle, advised by His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej, to develop the quality of life of people.
The Thai prime minister also said discussions under the Boao Forum for Asia platform show a picture of the new world in the future, in which
Asia is believed to play a significant role in building the new world in a reality.
The Thai premier pointed out that land and rail networks connectivity plus contacts through the Internet, in which several countries are building to date, should help stimulate consumption and income distribution to once impoverished communities and narrow the disparity of people.
According to the prime minister, Thailand is now developing cyber systems under the digital economy policy, while responsible businesses practiced by the private sector will become a major force in confronting new global challenges, especially those from climate change.
The Thai prime minister proposed that the private sector in every country help solve problems facing the world by playing a major role for the government and the people so that the so-called 4Ps, the Public-Private-People Partnership, could be accomplished.
The Thai leader is visiting China's Hainan Province during March 22-24 to attend the 1st Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Leaders’ Meeting in Sanya and the Boao Forum for Asia in Boao. (TNA)
