Thai PM to meet Facebook founder
BANGKOK, October 18 (TNA) - Thai Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha is scheduled to meet Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg in Bangkok late this month, when the chairman and chief executive officer (CEO) of the globally-popular free online social media and social networking services visit Thailand.
Speaking to journalists on October 17 about his scheduled meeting with Zuckerberg on October 30, the Thai prime minister revealed that he will discuss and seek the Facebook chairman and CEO's cooperation on anti-transnational crime.
"I'll hold talks and exchange views with the Facebook chairman and CEO on transnational crime when I meet him in Bangkok late this month", said the Thai leader.
According to the United Nations Convention Against Transnational Organized Crime, transnational crime includes inter-country or international criminal activities namely terrorist acts, money-laundering, corruption and illicit trafficking in drugs, endangered species of wild flora and fauna and humans, as well as offences against cultural heritage and cyber crime or crime that involves computers and the online networking.
Earlier, Thai Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak told reporters that the prime minister will also discuss e-commerce issues with the Facebook founder and top executive.
Mark Elliot Zuckerberg is an Harvard-educated American computer programmer and Internet entrepreneur, whose Facebook giant social media networking services have earned hime about 71.5 billion US dollars as of September 2017 and he was ranked by the globally-renowned Forbes Magazine in 2016 as the world's fifth richest person.
