Thai PM to visit Lao PDR for ASEAN Summits

BANGKOK, August 31 (TNA) - Thai Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha is scheduled to visit Lao PDR early next month to attend the 28th and the 29th ASEAN Summits and related forums in Vientiane, Lao PDR's capital, during September 6-8. Assistant Government Spokeswoman Colonel Taksada Sangkhachan announced the Thai prime minister's schedule on August 30, saying that after the ASEAN Summits, the Thai prime minister will return to Bangkok to welcome his Malaysian counterpart Dato Seri Najib Tun Razak, who is scheduled to pay an official visit to Thailand on September 9. During the upcoming ASEAN summits and related forums, the assistant government spokeswoman stated, Thailand will join other member countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) to sign many important intra-regional cooperation agreements. Besides, there will be a ceremony to hand over the ASEAN chairmanship from Lao PDR to the Philippines. (TNA)
