Thai PM to visit UK
BANGKOK, October 26 (TNA) - Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra is scheduled to pay an official visit to the United Kingdom from November 12-14 to further strengthen relations between London and Bangkok.
Newly-appointed UK Ambassador to Thailand Mark Kent made a courtesy call on Premier Yingluck at Bangkok's Government House Friday morning to introduce himself, during which the Thai prime minister also expressed her hope that her official trip to the UK next month will further boost bilateral ties and cooperation between the United Kingdom and Thailand on trade, investment, tourism, education and civil relations.
The Thai premier assured that Thailand is ready to cooperate closely with London to boost bilateral cooperation in all areas, including issues of mutual and global interest.
The Thai prime minister told the new UK top envoy that she will bring potential Thai business operators along with her during her visit to the United Kingdom to explore more investment opportunities there.
According to the Thai prime minister, her government is also promoting improved English language skills of Thai people to prepare for the ASEAN Community (AC) by 2015, covering cooperation between the Thai Ministry of Education and the Bangkok-based British Council on developing English-language programs for tablet computers her administration are distributing to young Thai students.
