Thai police seize over 500kg of ice bars
BANGKOK, October 18 (TNA) - Police have seized 508 kilograms of ice bars in Nakhon Ratchasima Province or Korat in the Thai Northeast, which would be worth over 10 billion baht if smuggled out of the country.
Top Thai police, including National Police Chief Police General Chaktip Chaichinda, told a press conference in Bangkok on October 17 that Korat police spotted a suspicious van whose driver evaded a road checkpoint in Sida District and, thus, joined forces with police in nearby Bua Yai District to hunt for the suspicious van.
The top police said the local police forces then found the suspicious van parked on a roadside and seized the 508 bars of ice, weighing one kilogram each, which were hidden in 11 fertilizer sacks after a thorough search of the vehicle.
According to the top Thai police, the local police then arrested a suspected man at the Bua Yai Train Station overnight who later confessed to have worked with another man to transport the 508 ice bars from Nakhon Phanom Province in the Thai Northeast to a destination, as hired by a drug agent at 20,000 baht.
"Thai police are speedily hunting for another suspected man and the alleged drug agent for prosecution. The seized ice would be worth over one billion baht if sold in the country, but would be worth over 10 billion baht if smuggled out of Thailand", the top Thai police revealed. (TNA)
