Thai students build sand sculptures depicting peace in Thai South

NARATHIWAT, Dec 19 (TNA) – A group of Thai students created sand art sculptures to pass on messages of peace and nonviolence in the three southern border provinces of Thailand. The “peace” sand sculptures built by some 40 art students of Prince of Songkhla University are displayed along Ko Yao Beach, one of the most famous tourist attractions, in Narathiwat province. The students used the sand art depicting peace in the country’s restive south where people used to live happily in the past regardless of difference in religious beliefs. The three southern border provinces of Thailand – Yala, Pattani, and Narathiwat – have been plagued with a series of bomb attacks and violence for years. The students’ sand sculptures have been well received by tourists visiting the beach in Tak Bai district. (TNA)
