Thai youth grabs two awards at American Protégé International Vocal Competition 2016

BANGKOK, June 18 (TNA) -- A 12 year old Thai girl, Ampaiporn Athiphan-ampai or Lina has grabbed two world class awards from the American Protégé International Vocal Competition 2016. Lina, a protégé of the well known Thai singer, Nanthana "Ann" Boonlong, has made her trainer more than proud as she had won the first prize at the American Protégé International Vocal Competition 2016 for the category of Musical, as well as brought home a special award of Best Singer from the panel of judges. American Protégé International Vocal Competition is known as a world class contest, where contestants would send in video clips to compete in four categories of Opera, Classical, Traditional song and Musical. For this year, the Thai youth champion had sent in two video clips to show off her musical talents, which included the song, 'Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again' from the musical of Phantom of the Opera, and 'Defying Gravity' from "Wicked" the musical. Lina is set to fly to New York to receive her prizes, where she is also scheduled to show off her singing voice at the Winner's Recital, which would be held at the Carnegie Hall in the coming December. Lina is currently studying in Grade 6 of Shrewsbury International School Bangkok. Her talents include singing, playing the piano, ukulele and guitar, as well as being the youngest member of her school's Senior Chamber Choir, where she has passed the school's audition to get in.
