Thailand No 1 Destination For Indian Travellers

By Jamaluddin Muhammad BANGKOK, May 17 (Bernama) –- Thailand has been ranked as the number one outbound destination for Indian travellers, with more than 900,000 Indians visiting the country last year. According to a statement from the Tourism Authority of Thailand Thursday, 917,832 Indians travelled to Thailand last year, in comparison to 791,185 in 2010. In 2012, this growth was continuing with 210,722 Indians visiting Thailand from January to March. With its wide range of "value for money" offerings that include leisure sports, fine dining, adventure services, wellness and quality hotels and resorts, Thailand has been consistently increasing in popularity among Indians from all parts of the country. Packages that included destinations such as Pattaya and Phuket, now include new beach destinations such as Ko Samui, Hua Hin and Krabi. Tourism Authority of Thailand also plans to tap niche segments such as golf, luxury holidays, weddings, medical and Bollywood tourism for the Indian market. -- BERNAMA
