Thailand plans joint halal food production with Kuwait

KUWAIT CITY, KUWAIT, October 16 (TNA) - Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra has expressed her hope that Thailand, which is good at food production, and Kuwait, which is a world energy base, can join forces to produce halal food products to serve global markets. Yingluck, who is paying an official visit to Kuwait from October 15-18, aired the proposed idea at her first mission, a reception party at the Missoni Hotel in Kuwait's capital, the Kuwait City, Tuesday morning local time, during which the Thai delegation presented Thailand's political and economic stability to Kuwaiti business operators. Yingluck acknowledged that halal food production in southern Thailand could benefit from energy supplies from Kuwait and the cooperation could support the production of halal food products to serve the world market, and that Thai business operators are also interested in energy, health and tourism businesses in Kuwait. Besides, the prime minister emphasized close relations between Thailand and Kuwait, which have lasted nearly 50 years, and the value of bilateral businesses which have soared by 185 per cent over the past five years, pointing out that over 40,000 Kuwaiti people visited Thailand in the first half of this year alone. The Thai premier is then scheduled to inaugurate the Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) Summit at the Bayan Palace at 11am local time, in which leaders of over 30 countries participate and she will deliver a speech, as Thailand is an ACD coordinator in the areas of tourism, finance and human resource development.
