Thailand tightens traffic law with reflectors required for all buses, trucks
BANGKOK, April 23 (TNA) - All buses and trucks registering with the Thai authorities from Jan. 1, 2018 will be required to have safety reflectors to improve visibility and prevent road accidents, according to the Department of Land Transport.
Department director-general Sanit Promwong said under the rule, bus and truck operators are required to place reflective tapes or install reflective devices to make sure their vehicles are visible from a distance of not less than 150 meters. Also, locations of the reflectors on the vehicles must be in line with international standards.
As for vehicles registering with the Land Transport Department before the rule enforcement, Mr. Sanit clarified that operators have to comply with the reflector regulation by Jan. 1, 2019.
He added that those who fail to meet the requirements will face a maximum fine of 50,000 baht. (TNA)
