Thais urged to get rid of mosquito breeding grounds

BANGKOK, September 1 (TNA) - All households in Thailand have been urged to help eradicate breeding sources of mosquitoes, especially those of common house mosquito strains that are the carriers of many deadly diseases. Thai Public Health Minister Dr. Piyasakon Sakonsattayatorn made the remarks on Thursday while visiting his ministry's Department of Disease Control, during which he also held talks with disease control experts. "All households should help destroy the common house mosquitoes' breeding grounds to prevent outbreaks of fatal diseases carried by the mosquitoes, like dengue fever and Zika virus", said the minister. The minister stressed that Thailand has brought the Zika virus under control, thanks to the country's close coordination with the Geneva-based World Health Organisation (WHO). (TNA)
