Three defendants get life in jail

Manama, Apr.19 (BNA): Three defendants accused of being involved in an explosion were sentenced to life in jail, said Terror Crime Prosecution Chief, Attorney General Ahmed Al-Hammadi. The High Criminal Court convicted them also of attempted murder, training on the use of explosives, making, possessing and using explosive devices and causing damages. The court handed them down the life in jail terms, revoked the citizenship of two of them and confiscated the seized items. The Criminal Investigation Directorate had notified the Public Prosecution about a strange-looking object placed at Al-Qadam traffic light and an explosion which happened on Budaiya Highway, near the area of Abu Saiba. The Public Prosecution launched an inquiry which led to the arrest of two accused, who confessed to causing the explosion, attempted murder, training on the use of explosives, making, possessing and using explosive devices and causing damages. A notice was issued for the third accused. The Public Prosecution based its charges on the victims’ testimonies, the seized items, the accused’s confessions and the technical and medical reports.
