Three terror cell members sentenced

Manama, Sept. 27 (BNA): The High Criminal Court today convicted three members of a terrorist cell who established and ran a terrorist group in breach of the law and jointly financed their group activities, Terror Crime Prosecution Chief Mish’al Al Mannae, said.
The first defendant was sentenced to a life in jail term and a BD 100,000 fine. The second and third defendants were sentenced to fifteen years each in jail and a BD 100,000 fine.
The court also ordered the revocation of citizenship of all three defendants and confiscation of seized materials.
The case details date back to when the Public Prosecution received a report from the Criminal Investigation Directorate (CID) informing that the first defendant had recruited the second and third defendants and merged them into the so-called 14 February Group. He tasked both defendants to collect amounts of money from various regions in Bahrain to finance the terrorist group activities.
The Public Prosecution evidencing was based upon the proven charges, including verbal statements, witness testimonies, and confessions of the third defendant and technical evidences.
One of the defendants appeared before the court in custody in the presence of his defence attorney who was able to present his defence argument, and he was also provided with all the prescribed legal sureties.
The two other defendants were still fugitives at large and the court ordered their arrest.
