Tolerance, intellectual creativity in Bahrain praised

Manama, June 23 (BNA): Information Minister Ali bin Mohammed Al Rumaihi praised the spirit of national unity and tolerance prevailing in the Bahraini community, describing it as the pillar of civilisational and human development in the prosperous era of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. He was speaking as he patronised yesterday the annual Ghabga of Bahrain Folk Poetry Society and the inauguration of two poetry books of the society Deputy Board Chairman Mubarak bin Amru Al Ameri. The Information Minister stressed the importance of literature and arts in boosting national values, the Arab Identity and patriotism, commending the outstanding literary contribution of poet Al Ameri and the role of the society in enriching the cultural movement and preserving the national folkloric heritage. He urged the poets and authors to assume their national and humanitarian duties in enlightening the community, raising awareness, promoting moderation, renouncing extremism and highlighting Bahrain’s advanced standing as a model of political, cultural and economic openness, intellectual creativity and religious tolerance. The Information Minister praised the fraternal spirit between the attendees of the Ramadan Ghabga hosted by Bahrain Folk Poetry Society. He honoured the contestants in the improvised poetry competition and winners in the 8th soccer tournament.
