Toon Bodyslam’s charity run pays for 412 medical equipment items

BANGKOK, Sept 28 (TNA) -- The 1,079-million-baht donation raised from the charity run by rocker Artiwara “Toon Bodyslam” Kongmalai leads to the procurement of 412 items of medical equipment for 11 public hospitals. Dr Jesada Chokdamrongsuk, permanent secretary for public health, said the equipment included CT simulators to treat cancer patients, cardiac catheterization equipment, devices and operation rooms for heart surgeries, telemedicine systems and respirators. People at public hospitals started to be treated with the newly procured equipment as 48 medical equipment items were delivered to hospitals. The rest were under the processes of delivery, procurement contract signing and procurement procedures, Dr Jesada said. Artiwara, 39, finished his 55-day, 2,215-kilometer South-North charity run from Betong district of Yala province to Mae Sai district of Chiang Rai province on Dec 25 last year. On the way he gathered donations for needy 11 public hospitals including 10 regional hospitals. (TNA)
