Train service in Thai Far South resumed

THAI FAR SOUTH, September 12 (TNA) - Normal train service in the Thai South has been resumed with all 14 trains to and from Bangkok to the southern border region having been in full operations, timely for Muslim people to celebrate Eid al-Adha, their Festival of Sacrifice, after a one-week suspension for repair of damaged tracks. Banharn Gobayang, Director of the Southern Operation Center of the State Railway of Thailand (SRT), told reporters that the train service from Hat Yai in Songkhla to Narathiwat Provinces has run normally since early Monday morning. Banharn said that security officers have been stationed along the way to provide safety for train passengers. A bombing attack on rail tracks in Khok Pho District of Pattani Province in the Thai Deep South on September 3 badly damaged the railway section, while also killing one railway employee on a running train and injuring three others.
