Turkish and Russian leaders assess Syria issue on the phone

ANKARA (A.A) - Turkish prime minister and Russian president discussed the recent situation of Syria on the phone. Turkish Prime Ministry press center stated on Wednesday that Turkish Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan told Russian President Dmitriy Medvedev on the phone that current Syrian administration completely lost its persuasiveness and legitimacy. Erdogan expressed his concern as the United Nations Security Council could not reach a decision about Syria as well as the veto of a draft in this issue. Death toll exceeded 7,000 in Syria and the violence against civilians is still continuing, Erdogan told Medvedev. Noting that bloodshed should immediately be stopped, Erdogan said that Turkey and Russia should work in coordination and consultation to restore stability and peace in Syria. Erdogan and Medvedev agreed that foreign ministers of Turkey and Russia would be in contact and also meet for consultation on Syria issue.
