Turkish foreign ministry confirms Turks kidnapped in Sudan released

ANKARA (A.A) - February 2, 2012 - Turkish Foreign Ministry confirmed that five Turkish nationals were released Thursday after being held hostage for five months in Sudan.
The five Turks, who worked a for a private Turkish company, were kidnapped on September 9, 2011, in Darfur's north as they were headed to Chad to open water wells the in the central African country, the Turkish Foreign Ministry said.
The ministry said the Turks were in good health and they would be transported via Khartoum to Turkey in the shortest possible time.
The ministry said also that Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu spoke separately on the phone to the Turkish nationals.
