Turkish lawmaker, NATO SG discuss regional, international issues

ANKARA (A.A) - The head of Turkish Parliament's Foreign Affairs Committee and NATO's secretary general exchanged views on regional and international issues on Thursday. NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen held a meeting with Parliamentary Foreign Affairs and Defense Committees as well as NATO Parliamentary Assembly members in Ankara. During the meeting, Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Volkan Bozkir and Rasmussen exchanged views on topics concerning NATO, and regional and international issues. Bozkir and Rasmussen discussed NATO heads of state and government summit to take place in Chicago in May in which NATO's future would be debated. During the meeting, Rasmussen highlighted Turkey's importance for NATO and its contributions to the Alliance, and expressed gratitude to Turkey for its multilateral and comprehensive contributions to Alliance's efforts to preserve international peace and stability.
