Turkmenistan, Ashgabat, June 1 / Trend H. Hasanov /
The Turkmen-Turkish trade turnover volume increased by 52 percent for the last three years, reaching $ 3.5 billion in 2012, the Turkmen Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations said on Saturday.
Turkish President Abdullah Gul visited Ashgabat from May 29-31. Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov stressed during a meeting with Turkish counterpart that there are opportunities to increase the bilateral trade volume by 2-3 times in the nearest years.
He said that intensifying the cooperation with Turkey is one of the priority areas for the country.
Some 600 companies with Turkish capital have been registered in Turkmenistan. The interstate business council is working on a regular basis.
The Turkmen International Investment Forum held in Istanbul in March 2013 is effective from this point of view.
Turkey is interested in participating in the implementation of a number of perspective projects, including the project of the Turkmenbashi international seaport, as well as the projects in the Turkmen natural gas transportation to Europe.
