Two commercial courts to be inaugurated early September

Manama, Aug. 22 (BNA): President of the Supreme Judicial Council and the Court of Cassation Chancellor Salim bin Mohammed Al Kuwari announced the inauguration of two commercial courts which will become operational early September. He said at a press conference today that the aim of setting up commercial courts is to give investors confidence in Bahrain’s judicial and economic system and ensure fast achievement of justice. He added that courts will be determined for investors and traders to resort to and those courts will have well-experienced judges. Meanwhile, Chancellor Al Kuwari denied any shortcoming or legislative amendment regarding commercial courts, adding that effective laws are being enforced. The Supreme Judicial Council President explained that there are already commercial courts but their specialties have not been defined. He pointed out that a training plan at the Judicial Studies Institute was put in place to cope with the commercial courts’ work. He also explained that the judges will be trained on conventional financial disputes, stressing the need to hone skills related to commercial and investment activities.
