Two Malaysian University Research and Innovation Products Win Gold Medals at INPEX 2012

KANGAR (Perlis,Malaysia), June 22 (Bernama) -- Two research and innovation products developed by Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) won the gold medals at the Invention and New Product Exposition (INPEX 2012) in the United States recently. The two products are the GA-PSO LECO Model for Parameter Optimisation in Tennessee Eastman Chemical Process and the SNeTMon: A Novel Approach for Network Traffic Monitoring. GA-PSO LECO Model for Parameter Optimisation in Tennessee Eastman Chemical Process was jointly developed by researchers - Neoh Siew Chin, Norhashimah Morad, Lim Chee Peng and Zalina Abdul Aziz - from UniMAP Centre of Microelectronic Engineering Studies. Meanwhile, the SNeTMon: A Novel Approach for Network Traffic Monitoring was the result of a research conducted by Professor Dr. R. Badlishah Ahmad, Md. Mostafijur Rahman, Naufal Alee and Dr Abid Yahya from the university's Centre of Computer Engineering and Communication Studies. UniMAP vice-chancellor Prof Dr Kamarudin Hussin said he was grateful for the recognition given to the two products. "The recognition really meant a lot as there is no silver or bronze medal. There is only gold medal and it is given to the best product," he said. He also hoped that the recognition would also put UniMAP's name on the world's research map. Other countries participated in INPEX 2012 were South Korea, Taiwan, China, Egypt, Iran, Australia, Brazil, Croatia, German and Hungary. -- BERNAMA
