Two people die of rabies
BANGKOK, July 23 (TNA) – The Department of Disease Control has reported two more deaths from rabies, raising the country’s death toll to 14 in total this year.
Suwanchai Wattanayingcharoenchai, the department’s director-general said two new fatal cases were recorded in the past week. The first victim was a 19-year-old man in the northeastern province of Buri Ram. He was bitten by a dog at his chest and left shoulder in April and did not receive a vaccine.
The second death is a 55-year-old woman in the eastern province of Rayong. She was bitten in her right arm by a stray dog and she didn’t wash her wound and did not seek medical treatment.
After exposure to the disease, the doctor said the incubation period for rabies in humans could be one week to a year. (TNA)
