Two political society members summoned

Manama, Apr. 18 (BNA): Assistant Undersecretary of Legal Affairs of the Interior Ministry announced today that two Al Wefaq National Islamic Society members had been summoned. The Assistant General Secretary of the society, Khalil Ibrahim Marzooq and society member Abdulaziz Ibrahim were summoned in regard to statements released on Al Wefaq's website and social media account that question procedures taken by the Interior Ministry and other authorities in the state and asking for the interference of foreign organisations. The Assistant Undersecretary said this is considered to be a call for interference in the internal affairs of Bahrain. The Assistant Undersecretary said such statements cause friction between various segments of society, promote unrest and sectarian tensions, spread false news, incite hatred, and harm the internal and foreign affairs of Bahrain. He said that the two individuals were asked to cease the release of these types of statements, especially in light of the current regional situation. He said Bahrain promotes freedom of expression within the constitution and the law and that those who break the law will be held legally accountable.
