UAE rescue team gives demonstration of wireless remote Aircraft at emergency scenes

Abu Dhabi: The UAE Search and Rescue Team showcased its experience in using remote-controlled aircraft for aerial photography before 60 international rescue teams. The demonstration was part of a work paper submitted by Lieutenant Colonel Mohammed AlAnsari, Head of the UAE Search and Rescue Team, and field liaison officer between the Ministry of Interior and the UN for handling disasters. Lt. Col AlAnsari's work paper shed light on the usage of these aircraft, during the meeting of the heads of the International Search and Rescue Teams, which was recently held in Holland. The experience is a first of its kind in the world where such aircraft participate in search and rescue work as well as in surveying distressed areas, thus providing further protection for individuals participating in rescue operations. AlAnsari said that this demonstration reflects the commitment of Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, to ensure the optimal application of environment, health and safety methodologies in addition to protecting rescuers and all search and rescue personnel. It also comes in line with His Highness's directives to guarantee the best usage of the Abu Dhabi Police's internal resources, in collaboration with the Emergency and Public Safety Department. The Head of UAE Search and Rescue Team clarified that the aircrafts have already been added to the team's basic equipment and were widely supported by participants in the meeting, being a unique experience at a global level. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
