UAE's RCA funds reconstruction of health centre in Jerusalem
Jerusalem: Over 30,000 Palestinians are awaiting completion of a project to the only health centre in Shu'fat Refugees Camp in Jerusalem. The Dh 7.7 million (2.1 million US dollars) project is being executed by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) under a generous donation from UAE Red Crescent Authority.
Kazim Khalaf, an advisor to the Operations Director at the UNRWA said the dilapidated Shu'fat health centre, which was built in 1962, was not able to provide adequate services to the patients.
He added that the existing 200-square meter centre will be expanded to 3,000 square meter and will have dental, maternity and gynaecology clinics, plus a fully equipped laboratory. Other facilities include an emergency ward and a clinic for male patients.
Work on the four-storey centre will begin in October and is expected to be completed in 16 months. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
