UN, Arab-League cooperation discussed

New York, Mar.9 (BNA): Bahrain’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Head of the Arab Group for March, Jamal Faris Al-Ruwei hosted a work lunch in honour of the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, in the presence of Arab Group Permanent Representatives. Al-Ruwei commended the strenuous efforts of the secretary-general to reform the UN system, stressing the importance of the Arab Group’s cooperation in this regard. The focus was also put on consolidating relations between the United Nations and the Arab League and the importance of continuing work between countries in the region and the UN agencies to promote these issues. The two sides also discussed Arab issues and exchanged views on the Middle East, Al-Quds and the current situation in Syria and Yemen, in addition to UNRWA finance, UN reforms and other issues of mutual interest.
