At a UN Meeting, Kuwait Says Qatar Ushered New Era of Sports Diplomacy

New York, December 02 (QNA) - The State of Kuwait said that Qatar has become the focus of the world's attention after it succeeded in organizing the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, stressing that Qatar ushered a new era of sports diplomacy and became a sports capital. This came in the State of Kuwait's statement which was delivered by Diplomatic Attache' of the Kuwaiti mission to the UN Mubarak Saleh Abdullah during a session of the UN General Assembly, discussing the notion, "sports for peace and development." The Statement pointed out that the State of Qatar's success in organizing the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 is a Gulf achievement and an Arab success, adding that this outstanding edition of the World Cup will become an example for all sporting events in the future and will provide a practical example of the importance of sport and its role in nations reproachment and human solidarity. The Kuwaiti diplomat said that his country's participation in this discussion emanates from its strong conviction in sports' role for evolving societies, cementing bonds among nations and raising good youth, he said, affirming Kuwait's support for the UNGA call on nations of the globe to observe "the world day for sports for sake of peace and development." The best investment is the investment in human resources, he said, noting that sports help immune the youth against extremism, and that Kuwait, years back, had formed the ministry of youth and the public authority for youth and sports. He also singled the great role played by the Kuwaiti Club for Disabilities "that has incubated special challenges' athletes of steel will." (QNA)
