UN organises exhibition to honour late Thai King
BANGKOK, November 28 (TNA) - The United Nations organises an exhibition on royal activities in honour of late His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej at its Headquarters in New York.
The Thai permanent delegation to the United Nations posted on its Twitter account on Monday, reporting that the royal exhibition, themed "The Lifetime Journey of the World's Development King", will be held during November 28-December 2.
The exhibition includes royal portraits and paintings of the late and revered Thai monarch painted by students of Bangkok's Pochang Academy of Arts, Rajamangala University of Technology Rattanakosin (RMUTR).
The UN has purchased two of the nine paintings to be permanently displayed at the UN Headquarters.
Meanwhile, the Joint Administrative Centre for Peace and Order, which coordinates activities around Sanam Luang ceremonial ground near Bangkok's Grand Palace, announced that it will hold a big cleaning day from November 30 to December 2.

Area Command, said the main activities will be held on December 1-2 in 15 locations at Sanam Laung and peripheral areas up to the Royal Plaza on Ratchadamnoen Avenue.
In addition to the cleaning works, electricity, water supply systems and close circuit TVs (CCTVs) in the areas will be checked to ensure their full functions.
Tree care and pest control will also be part of the cleaning plan, set from 9:30pm on November 30.
Deputy Bangkok Governor Amnuay Nimmano revealed that his Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) will also dredge sewer and drainage systems from Sanam Luang to Ratchadamneon Avenue, welcoming volunteers to join the public activities, namely helping clean tents set up to serve people coming to pay their respects to the late and beloved Thai King at the Grand Palace.
All the activities are expected to be completed by December 1 before long public holidays during December 3-5, when a large number of people are expected to show up to pay their respects to late His Majesty the King at the Grand Palace. (TNA)
