University of Doha for Science and Technology Holds Workshop of Technological Education

Doha, October 07 (QNA) - The University of Doha for Science and Technology (UDST) held a workshop on the role of vocational and technological education and training in skills development. The workshop, which was organized in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education and the Doha-based United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) office in the Gulf States and Yemen, was aimed to celebrate World Teachers' Day with a view to shedding light on the important role of science, technology, applied education and knowledge acquisition, and activation of the role entrusted with students and teachers in building the nation and the future. On this occasion, President of University of Doha for Science and Technology Dr. Salem bin Nasser Al Naemi stressed the importance of applied education, especially technological and vocational education and training, pointing out that investment in technological and vocational education and training is an important step in the direction of social and economic development in the State of Qatar. Al Naemi said that applied education is an urgent need to graduate a workforce capable of keeping pace with technical and industrial development, adding: "We are working through the Department of Applied Research, Innovation and Economic Development to sponsor scientific research, with the aim of enhancing technological and vocational learning, policies and practices."(QNA)
