UNY Grabs Gold Medal In Malaysia's I-EIE Competition
YOGYAKARTA, Aug 3 (Antara) - The Yogyakarta State University (UNY) has grabbed a gold medal at the International Eureka Innovation Exhibition (I-EIE) 2017 in the Universiti Kuala Lumpur Malaysian Spanish Institute, Malaysia.
"We gain a gold medal on renewable energy by presenting the work entitled 'Utilization Cyperus Rotundus and Lophaterum Gracile Brogn as an Alternative Fuel Gasoline'" according to Muhammad Rezky Fathurrochim, team member of UNY.
The innovation work developed by the UNY team is an alternative fuel for gasoline engines that are made from grass, he explained.
Fathurrochim further said that the team created a product called Bioki which is a bioethanol mixture of grass with gasoline on a certain mixture ratio.
"We have tested the effectiveness of the innovations on motorcycles and got the results of torque and power, better than gasoline without mixed Bioki," he pointed out.
In addition, UNY team member Probo Wiratsongko noted that the gold medal achieved in the event was a remarkable achievement for the team because the level of competition in the category of renewable energy is very high.
"The competition level of the renewable energy category is very high because it is followed by other inventors who already have patents and have won gold medals at other events.
The I-EIE is an annual international event organized by Universiti Kuala Lumpur Malaysian Spanish Institute (UniKL-MSI) in cooperation with the People's Mandate Council (Mara), and the International Federation of Inventors Association (IFIA).
"The three-day I-EIE 2017 event, July 25-27, was followed by hundreds of inventors from different countries at different levels of education such as professors, doctors and engineers," he stated.
