US ambassador gives warm wishes to King Maha Vajiralongkorn for his ascension

BANGKOK, Dec 2 (TNA) -- The US Ambassador to Thailand Glyn T Davies has expressed his warm wishes to HM King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun on the occasion HM' ascension to the throne of Thailand. The US Embassy in Bangkok publicised the ambassador's message earlier today, which stated the Ambassador's congratulatory message to HM King Maha Vajiralongkorn on His ascension, as well as to the people of Thailand for its new King. The statement also informed of the deep alliance between Thailand and the United States which started since 1818, stressing that the US values the strong friendship with Thailand would continue to maintain bonds between both countries well into the future. "The United States deeply values our longstanding alliance with the Kingdom of Thailand. We look forward to building on an enduring friendship that began in 1818 with the first contact between the court of King Rama II and President James Monroe, he said. "In the ten generations since, our friendship has developed into a partnership and alliance of great benefit to our two nations," he said. He added that "As with His Majesty’s late father, the beloved King Bhumibol Adulyadej, under His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun we will continue to commit ourselves to deepen and strengthen the bonds between us, and foster ever-greater stability and prosperity for both our peoples." The ambassador further wished HM King Maha Vajiralongkorn good health and longevity at the end of his message. (TNA)
