US Congress delegation visits Representatives Council

Manama, Nov. 6 (BNA): The Representatives Council received today a delegation from the US Congress, in the presence of MPs Ahmed Saloom, the Head of the Financial and Economic Affairs Committee, and Ghazi Al Rahma. The visit aimed to get informed about Bahrain's legislative and parliamentary experience. An induction presentation was given to the visiting delegation on the democratic march in Bahrain since the inauguration of the National Action Charter (NAC) up to date. The delegation was also updated on the parliamentary work at the Representatives Council and the legislative, monitoring and political tools used in it. Main issues that will be discussed by the Representatives Council in the upcoming period were also spotlighted alongside the main regional and international developments. MP Ahmed Saloom conveyed the greetings of Representatives Council Speaker Fawzia bint Abdullah Zainal to the delegation, stressing the importance of such visits in informing international parliaments about the legislative process in the Kingdom of Bahrain. For his part, MP Ghazi Al Rahma stressed that the meeting cast light too on the main achievements brought about by Bahrain mainly in the economic, financial and legislative fields. He stressed the kingdom's quantum leap since 2002 in terms of legislation, political participation, freedom of opinion and human rights thanks to the reform project spearheaded by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
