US PACAF chief visits Thailand

BANGKOK, May 11 (TNA) - New Commander of the US Pacific Air Forces (PACAF) General Terrence J. O’Shaughnessy is visiting Thailand this week to introduce himself and to strengthen military ties and cooperation between Washington and Bangkok. The visiting US PACAF chief and his entourage were officially received by Thai Supreme Commander General Surapong Suwan-ath at the Royal Thai Armed Forces Headquarters on the outskirts of Bangkok on Thursday. During their meeting, the US PACAF chief stressed on sound and long-standing relations and friendship between the US and the Thai armed forces, citing joint military drills for defence and security cooperation bilaterally and multilaterally between both sides as good examples, especially the annual Cobra Gold excercises. The Thai armed forces chief, in return, thanked the US PACAF chief for paying a visit to Bangkok, confirming that the long time cooperation between the US and the Thai armed forces has become the fundamental for a steady building up of military ties and cooperation between both allied nations.
