'US State Department's statement backs Bahrain's anti-terror efforts'

Riyadh, Mar. 18 (BNA): Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani, has welcomed the statement issued by the US State Department yesterday, noting that it reflects the UN administration’s firm supportive stance towards Bahrain’s efforts to combat terrorist organisations, and terrorist acts aimed at undermining its security and stability. The decision by the United States Department of State to designate Bahraini individuals as Specially Designated Global Terrorists proves the US administration’s support to the Kingdom’s efforts to clamp down on terrorist organisations seeking to subvert its security and stability and terrorise secure citizens and residents through their heinous criminal acts, Dr. Al-Zayani said. The GCC chief lauded the successful efforts of the Government of Bahrain to expose the conspiracies and campaigns targeting its, stressing that the US State Department’s statement reflects the resolve of the US administration to fight terrorist organisations, as well as its clear determination to reinforce security and stability in the region.
