Uzbekistan adopts program for attraction of foreign grants for 2013-2015

Uzbekistan, Tashkent, April 9 / Trend, D. Azizov / In 2013-2015, Uzbekistan plans to attract more than $512.65 million in grants for 294 projects in accordance with the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers 'On Measures to Attract Technical Assistance Grant Funds (Grants) from Donor Countries, International and Foreign Governmental and Non-Governmental Organizations to the Republic of Uzbekistan in 2013-2015'. According to the resolution, Uzbekistan previously agreed on 93 projects with donor countries, international and foreign governmental and non-governmental organizations, which will account for $194.76 million of grant funds. In particular, there are plans to attract $83.2 million for 34 projects in the field of education, $32.85 million for 29 projects in the health care sector, $224.4 million for five projects for technical equipment of customs and state border, $22.79 million for five projects in the field of agriculture and water resources, $12.8 million for two projects to improve drinking water supply and sanitation, $5.87 million for nine projects on the development of the economy, industry, financial markets and entrepreneurship, $9.58 million for five projects to improve energy efficiency and promote renewable sources of energy and $3.26 million for four other projects. In addition, the possibility of obtaining grants for a total of 157.98 million on 56 projects on education, skills, employees training, the purchasing computer hardware and software development, health care, social welfare, agriculture and water resources, drinking water supply, environment and other projects is currently being discussed with potential donors. In addition, a list of the 145 most promising projects (for a total of $159.9 million) presented to donors to grant technical assistance has been approved. The Cabinet of Ministers instructed relevant ministries to speed up work on all issues related to the financing of projects included in the program and to ensure appropriate and efficient use of technical assistance grant funds.
