Volunteers Teams To Be Created Under 1Malaysia Community Programme

VOLUNTEER TEAMS TO BE CREATED UNDER 1MALAYSIA COMMUNITY PROGRAMME KUALA KLAWANG, July 14 (Bernama) -- Volunteer teams would be created under the 1Malaysia Community programme (K1M) nationwide to instill a patriotic love for the country and its society, said Information Communication and Culture minister Rais Yatim. The volunteers would be trained in courtesy and integrity to propel the 1Malaysia concept to a higher level, he said. "We have people of various backgrounds under the 1Malaysia Community programme from which we need to create groups prepared to become volunteers," he told reporters. He said the modules included house repair, assisting the sick, disseminating information and the usual voluntary work in villages. The 1Malaysia concept to foster unity amongst the multi-ethnic people of Malaysia, substantiated by key values that every Malaysian should observe, was inspired by Prime Minister Najib Razak. -- BERNAMA
