VP: Marring “Persian Gulf” Means Distrusting History

Bushehr, April 29, IRNA – Vice President and Head of Cultural, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization Hassan Mousavi said here on Sunday morning that the title “Persian Gulf” is as old as the history itself and doubting the name means distrusting history. Talking to reporters at the sideline of ceremonies to commemorate National Day of the Persian Gulf, he said the Persian gulf has been mentioned in documents since five thousands years ago and will belong to the Islamic Republic of Iran for the rest of the history. He said the Islamic Republic of Iran has no debate on the name of the Persian Gulf with countries, islands or regions whose history are not longer than few centuries. He said enemies such as Britain and the US intrigue certain countries to seek confrontations with Iran over the “Persian Gulf” but thanks to the wisdom and power of the Islamic Republic the whole world now acknowledges the fact that the “Persian Gulf” belongs to Iran. April 30 is celebrated as the National Day of the Persian Gulf in Iran./end
