West Java Team Grabs 29 Percent Of Medals In Paralympic Games
BANDUNG, W Java, Oct 24 (Antara) - The West Java contingent grabbed 29 percent of the medals in Indonesia's 15th National Paralympic Week (Peparnas) 2016 Games, a spokesman stated.
The province has by now bagged a total of 327 medals---161 gold, 97 silver and 69 bronze medals---a spokesman of the Peparnas XV/2016, Dany Ramdhan, said here on Saturday (Oct 22).
Central Java was number two in the medals tally with 188 medals---66 gold, 66 silver and 56 bronze.
North Sumatra's contingent came third with 93 medals---36 gold, 38 silver and 19 bronze medals---followed by the contingent from the province of Papua with 119 medals. These 119 medals comprised 34 gold, 42 silver and 43 bronze medals.
The National Paralympic Games were opened by Minister of Youth and Sports Affairs Imam Nahrawi on Oct 15.
A total of 1,983 disabled athletes and 718 officials from 33 provinces are participating in these games which will run till October 24 in West Java's city of Bandung.
