WIPO praises UAE role in supporting organisation's efforts

GENEVA, 15th October, 2015 (WAM) -- The Emirates Society for the Protection of Intellectual Property and the World Intellectual Property Organisation, WIPO, of the United Nations, yesterday signed a Memorandum of Understanding, MoU, at the UN organisation's headquarters in Geneva in order to strengthen and promote technical cooperation between the two sides through the exchange of mutual experience and economic and technological development at local and international level. The MoU was signed by Major-General Dr. Abdul Quddus Abdul Razzaq Al Obaidli, Chairman of the Emirates Association for Intellectual Property, and Francis Gurry, Director-General of the of WIPO. The MoU aims to enhance cooperation and develop joint activities in the UAE by encouraging inventors and owners of Small and Medium Enterprises, SMEs, to use the intellectual property system to achieve economic benefit and as a means to increase their contribution to economic and social development in their communities. – Emirates News Agency, WAM - http://www.wam.ae/en/news/emirates/1395286710447.html
