Youth Council elections hailed

Manama, Aug.6 (BNA): Supreme Council for Women (SCW) Secretary-General Hala Al-Ansari met participants in the 2030 Youth Council elections. Twelve candidates were declared winners out of 26 candidates who ran in the board elections. She congratulated the elected members who won the voters’ trust thanks to their election platforms, hailing the enthusiasm of participants in the 2030 Youth Voice. The youth-centered programme was launched by the Supreme Council for Women in cooperation with the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Labour Fund "Tamkeen". She extended thanks to the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Council of Representatives General Secretariat, the Legislation and Legal Opinion Commission, Bahrain Institute of Political Development (BIPD) and Tamkeen, hailing their efforts which contribute to the success of the programme. Al-Ansari stressed the importance of the programme which informs youngsters on the basic principles of elections as well as the role of the Council of Representatives and Municipal Councils. "The programme aims at consolidating the values of belonging and citizenship among youngsters, honing their skills in the field of political work and preparing them to enter political life", she said, hailing the presence of women in the board elections as voters and candidates.
