Zarif: Europe better to resist sanctions than paying higher cost

Tehran, Nov 13, IRNA - Iran's foreign minister has said the Europe should pay the price of resistance against the US unilateral sanctions, or it will pay a higher price in the future, an Arab news website reported Tuesday Speaking to New Arab, Mohammad Javad Zarif said that if the Europeans do not pay the political and economic price of resisting the US anti-Iran sanctions, they would have to pay a much higher cost in the future. Washington pulled out of the landmark nuclear deal with Iran and re-imposed sanctions that were supposed to be lifted under the deal. The European signatories to the deal have vowed to keep the deal alive by devising mechanisms to protect companies from the adverse effects of the sanctions. As to the sufficiency of doing business with a limited number of foreign countries that have been exempted from the sanctions, Zarif said foreign relations are important, but it is not the only way for economic infrastructure development. Iran has domestic capacities, as well as human, natural and scientific resources, and all these elements will affect the future economy of the country, according to the foreign minister. Zarif also emphasized that the US will not be able to zero Iran's oil export, as the world market is in need of it and Iran is able to sell its oil, according to the interview that was published on Tuesday. He argued that there were numerous ways for alleviating the impediments caused by sanctions, and one of them is skirting the measures.
