International, Arab Media: North Field Expansion... Massive Project to Meet Global Increasing Demand for Gas
Doha, October 04 (QNA) - Arab and international media followed with great interest the news of the laying of the foundation stone for the North Field Expansion Project in Ras Laffan Industrial City on Tuesday, highlighting, in this regard, what HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani said in a post on his official account on the social media platform X, that laying the foundation stone for the North Field Expansion project is part of Qatar's strategy towards strengthening its position as a global LNG producer.
A report by Agence France-Presse (AFP) stated that the State of Qatar has laid the foundation stone for a project to expand production in one of the largest natural gas fields in the world, thus launching construction work on an export terminal on the northeastern coast of the small Gulf state.
AFP pointed out that by expanding the field, Qatar plans to raise its LNG production by 60 percent to 126 million tons annually by 2027, and gas production is expected to begin after the expansion in 2026, referring to the statement of the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer at TotalEnergies Patrick Pouyanne to reporters, in which he said that the expansion of the North Field was a huge project, and it comes with increased demand for LNG from Europe, and the market still needs more supplies, adding that this is a large project that will add a large production volume to the market.
In turn, the German Press Agency (DPA) reported the news in a report entitled "Amir of Qatar Lays Foundation Stone for North Gas Field Expansion Project," mentioning that HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani laid the foundation stone for the North Gas Field expansion project in Ras Laffan Industrial City. DPA added that the project will increase Qatar's annual production capacity of LNG from 77 million tons annually to 126 million tons annually by 2026, which will enhance the leadership of the State of Qatar in the production of LNG in the world.
The report added that HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani stressed that the North Field expansion project strengthens Qatar's position as a global LNG producer and enhances its pioneering role in meeting the need for energy in the global market.
Under the title " Qatar's Amir Lays Foundation Stone for North Field Expansion Project," Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) reported that HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani laid the foundation stone for the North Field expansion project in Ras Laffan Industrial City, which contributes to strengthening Qatar's leadership and leadership in the LNG production.

The newspaper quoted HE Minister of State for Energy Affairs, the President and CEO of QatarEnergy Eng. Saad bin Sherida Al Kaabi as saying that the project is a leap to strengthen Qatar's leadership in the field of energy and a reflection of its goal of optimal investment of its natural resources.
The London-based newspaper Asharq Al-Awsat also published news of the expansion in a report entitled "Qatar Lays Foundation Stone for North Field Gas Expansion Project," noting that Qatar has laid the foundation stone for a project to expand production in one of the largest natural gas fields in the world, thus launching construction work on an export terminal on the northeastern coast of the country.
