Iraq And Iran Agree To Form Committees To Discuss The Development Of Joint Oil Fields In Accordance With International Agreements

Baghdad / NINA /- Iraq and Iran agreed, today, Wednesday, to form committees to discuss the development of joint fields in accordance with the formulas of international agreements.

 

 A statement by the Ministry of Oil stated: "The Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs, Minister of Oil, Hayan Abdul Ghani, received today, Wednesday, the Minister of Oil of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Javad Oji, and his accompanying delegation."

 

 Abdul-Ghani stressed, according to the statement, the depth of historical, cultural and economic relations and ties between the two countries, and the common desire to enhance and expand the horizons of bilateral cooperation in all fields, especially in the oil, energy, petrochemical and infrastructure sectors.

 

 Abdul-Ghani said: "The bilateral meetings resulted in an agreement to form committees to discuss the development of joint fields in accordance with the formulas of international agreements, and cooperation in the refining, petrochemical, drilling, training, pipelines and infrastructure sectors."

 

 For his part, the Iranian Oil Minister expressed his country's desire to expand the horizons of cooperation in implementing joint projects in the oil and gas sectors, projects to build and develop refineries, extend oil and gas pipelines, clean the environment and remove pollutants, and coordinate in OPEC.

 

 The Iranian Oil Minister had arrived in Baghdad today on a visit during which he also met the Minister of Electricity. A memorandum of understanding and cooperation was signed between the oil ministries of Iraq and Iran./ End
