Kyrgyz yurt installed at TurkPA headquarters

Bishkek, May 17, 2023. / Kabar /. Baku hosted the opening of a Kyrgyz yurt, which was donated by the Jogorku Kenesh and installed on the territory of the headquarters of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic States (TurkPA).

Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh Nurlanbek Shakiev took part in the event, the Kyrgyz Parliament reported.

Shakiev expressed support for the idea of installing a yurt in the office of the Assembly, which unites the parliaments of fraternal friendly countries. “The yurt is an invaluable heritage passed down to us by our ancestors, and I am sure that its presence here will allow visitors to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of Kyrgyz culture and touch the unique decoration of the nomadic dwelling,” he said, expressing his wish that the yurt become a place of brotherhood and harmony.

After that, with the participation of Shakiev, a ceremony of planting seedlings took place.

The speaker also met with TurkPA Secretary General Mehmet Surey Er and received detailed information about the association's activities.

The Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic-Speaking Countries (TurkPA) was established on November 21, 2008 as a result of the Istanbul Agreement, signed by the chairmen of the parliaments of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkey in Istanbul at the Dolmabahce Palace. On September 29, 2009, the regulations of the Assembly and the regulation on the secretariat were adopted, and the head office was located in Baku.
