Kyrgyzstan to check earthquake resistance of existing and under construction buildings

Bishkek, May 13, 2023. /Kabar/. By order of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic, an interdepartmental working commission was formed to test existing and under construction buildings for seismic resistance. The decision was signed by Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Akylbek Zhaparov.

The decision was made taking into account the recent earthquakes that occurred in the territory of Turkiye, as well as the displacement of continental plates in the world, as a result of which certain processes and phenomena may be activated in the territory of the Kyrgyz Republic.

Thus, according to the document, the interdepartmental commission was instructed to verify the compliance of high-rise construction projects in the territory of Kyrgyzstan with the requirements for earthquake-resistant construction within three months and, based on the results, submit information to the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic.
