Kyrgyzstan interested in effective implementation of German Green Central Asia initiative

Bishkek, June 22, 2023. / Kabar/. Kyrgyzstan is interested in the effective implementation of the German Green Central Asia initiative, taking into account the growing challenges and threats in the mountainous region against the backdrop of global climate change, President of Kyrgyzstan, Sadyr Zhaparov, told during negotiations with German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier.

“Currently, we are implementing the Green Economy Development Program, a fund for the development of green energy has been created, and dozens of projects are being implemented to build medium and small hydropower plants. In this regard, we propose to consider the possibility of investing in green projects in Kyrgyzstan. Their joint implementation could contribute to the country's economic development while simultaneously achieving climate and environmental goals under the Paris Agreement,” Sadyr Zhaparov said.
