40 Per Cent Of Deaths In Motorcycle Accidents Are Youths

PETALING JAYA (Selangor, Malaysia), July 12 (Bernama) -- Almost 40 per cent of deaths in accidents involving motorcycles nationwide involved youths between the ages of 16 and 25. Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur Road Safety Department director, Muhammad Heeza Hassan, said it saddened him as they could have contributed to the country's development. "The attitude of these motorcyclists and their refusal to wear crash helmet are among the factors resulting in their death," he told reporters after launching the Road Safety Advocacy Campaign at the University of Management and Technology (UMTECH) Wednesday. At the function, ExxonMobil Malaysia distributed 200 crash helmets to the university students. Also present at the function were UMTECH vice-chancellor Professor Abdul Razak Habib and ExxonMobil Malaysia (ExxonMobil) deputy director of production Alex E. Guiscardo. -- BERNAMA
