About 8 thsd citizens returned to Kyrgyzstan from abroad since beginning of coronavirus pandemic

Bishkek, Apr. 29, 2020 / Kabar /. Since the beginning of COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic, 7,888 people from have returned to Kyrgyzstan from overseas, First Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, Nuran Niyazaliev told Wednesday a news briefing.
From the very beginning of the spread of coronavirus, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan created an operational headquarters abroad, he said. Consulates and embassies are working in intensive mode. A hotline has been working and practical assistance is also provided on the ground. A list of citizens abroad and those who intend to return to the Kyrgyz Republic is constantly being compiled.
“In connection with the situation in the world, many states of the world have decided to close the borders. In this regard, many of our citizens failed to return to their homeland. But, despite this, we managed to organize charter flights. I want to note that organizing charter flights is a very difficult procedure, because it is decided not only by the Foreign Ministries of the two countries, but also the Ministries of Transport, aviation agencies and third countries through whose territory the plane should fly,” Niyazaliev explained.
The vice minister said that during the pandemic, Kyrgyz citizens from Russia, Bulgaria, Egypt, India, Malaysia, the UAE, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Turkey and other countries were returned to the country. “The issue of the return of citizens from cities such as Moscow, Yekaterinburg, Dubai, etc., was very important. Despite everything, this work is being solved by joint efforts. The other day, two flights are planned to Bishkek from Dubai,” he said.
